I know it's a bit "after the fact", but our very own JD struck a blow for steelies everywhere last night in Northampton. John had a guest slot with an excellent young band called the Subtle Devils at the Lamplighters pub. The pub is in what looks like a run-down area of Northampton, but don't let that fool you. The pub was packed, and most were under 40.
This is a young, high-energy rockabilly/country act with excellent vocal harmonies and musicianship - very polished. See them if you can. I've heard it said that young people neither know, nor like, old country standards. Wrong on both counts! The audience were lapping it up. Everyone was riveted by the music, and JD got calls for encores. It seems that young England loves the steel guitar.
If you get a chance to see the Subtle Devils, don't hesitate. Way to go, John!
