Had the pleasure of catching 'Hard Working Hunners Holland', at the Opry(Glesca) on Saturday. Great, as ever, even though he, rather generously I thought, gave his Telonics to the bass player whose amp had chucked it in the second half. His MSA still managed to cut it though, going straight through the P.A. During a wee chat, I mentioned how I'd enjoyed a youtube clip of him on tour with Heather Miles, and he calmly slipped in that an airline had lost his steel!! For 4 months!!!
I also had the pleasure of catching Conor Smith at the Blue Arrow(Glesca) on Sunday. He's now taking his steel along to The Western Hot Club Sextet gigs, that he's put together. He played a couple of beautiful Noel Boggs arrangements, amidst a lot of hot, gypsy, jazz guitar. Swinging.
What a top weekend, I even got my hole! I'm 70, you know.
