Pictures and Comments on my New WBS SD10 Ultimate PSG

Postby coolsteel » Fri Jan 26, 2018 10:28 pm

I recently took delivery of my new WBS S10 Ultimate PSG in January of this year. I am so impressed with the quality of the build, it is a masterclass of German engineering at it's best. Every thing about it from the soft smooth pedal/knee levers action due to roller bearing fitted at each end of all the cross-shafts to the immaculate finish of the guitar and very sturdy flight case, it is just as good as can get. My guitar has the Change Lock device fitted which when activated switches the bottom 8 strings to the C6th. tuning, so you have both a 10 string E9th tuning plus a 8 string C6th tuning while at the same time incorporating the comfort a rear pad. With the prices of American manufactured steels increasing plus the very poor dollar/pound exchange rate, plus import duty, VAT and shipping cost it is in my opinion worth looking nearer home when we have a master steel builder almost on our doorstep. Customer service is first class and nothing is too much trouble for Wolfgang.

I hope you enjoy the pictures, meantime I'm enjoying my new steel.

That's a beautiful guitar, Richard :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: and long may you keep on enjoying playing it.

Build quality looks amazing and what a great concept the 'change lock' thingy is! WBS, and Sheffield, are definitely producing top class instruments in this neck of the woods.

Out of interest, what is the copedent? The extra pedals intrigue :?

And thanks for posting :D

That's a lovely looking steel, Richard.

Are the pedals and levers still operative when it's in C6 mode ?

What amp are you putting it through these days ?

That is indeed a very cool steel, Coolsteel! The only problem is that if I were to buy one, the deal would have to be done before 29th March 2019 while we’re still in the EU. And to add to the pressure, that’s my birthday......

My apologies for the late reply:

Danny pedal 1 is the Paul Franklin pedal lowering strings 5,6, 10. Pedals 234 are the ABC pedals on E9th. Emmons setup, and pedal 5 is the equivalent of pedal 6 when the guitar is in C6th. mode.

Richard nice to hear from you, I hope that you are keeping well. In reply to your question all pedals and knee levers are still operative when in C6th. mode, the 5 pedal is the dedicated C6th. pedal. My current amp is the Telonics 500 Combo fitted with a t.c.electronics G Major 2 effects unit used in conjunction with a Telonics Multi-Taper FP100A foot pedal.

Haddock there is only a short 7 month waiting list for custom made WBS guitars so you could still get you order in, why not treat yourself. They offer a full range of PSG guitars with various options.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments.

Superb looking guitar Richard. The cabinet is very Sheffield-like. You must be well pleased with it. ;)
