My Fessy 6 Shooter

Postby JeffM » Wed Feb 10, 2016 11:15 am

Last weekend, I got to do a proper gig with my 6 shooter.

A band I used to play in about 15 years ago, The Hackney Ramblers - a Dancehall style Cajun band - were asked to play the Gloucester Cajun & Zydeco Festival.

I used to play 6 string lap steel with them but thought I'd take the 6 shooter for a change to throw in a few pedal licks. I was really happy with it (and the knee lever I added).

It worked great - as has been said in previous discussions, it's not a substitute for a 10 stringer but it was a pretty good alternative to a 6 string non-pedal. And it fitted into the bag that I use to carry just the legs and pedal bar of my Sho~Bud.

I tune it the same as strings 3-8 of a regular 10 stringer so G# on top.
Standard A and B pedals and I added a lever to raise my Es to F.

When I first got it, I tuned it (High to low) E B G# F# E B so that I had my normal A6 tuning with A&B pedals engaged but I really like the sound of that high G#.
