i'm hoping to rebuild/renovate a guitar my lurvely wife bought me for a birthday/christmas present...[see here] viewtopic.php?f=11&t=404

the guitar turned out to be a bit of a pup? so ive decided to strip it down to basics and have a go at a refurb! SO i'll be asking, begging and pleading for info to help me...so please all, bare with me :D ive started to strip it, so heres some pic's of it all so far...i'll be updating as i progress, but it may take a while...

5]tuner pan..................................................i'm not sure whether to go 8 or 10 string? as ive only ever played a 6 string plank before! mmm...?

UPDATE!... A DEAL HAS BEEN DONE FOR SOME RATHER NICE ODDS N SODDS, SO IT LOOKS LIKE "ALL SYSTEMS ARE GO" OOOOH I'M ALL EXCITED :D PICS N DETAILS TO FOLLOW!

The above goodies arrived this morning bright n early, very well wrapped! I would just like to take this oppurtunity to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to the one n only Mr Bob Adams for being an absolute gent! he is now top of my Christmas card list :D CHEERS BOB you made an ageing man very happy...NOW COMES THE HARD PART, I'VE GOTTA MAKE THE THING NOW! :? Tel, Im sure you will get all the advice (and more) that you need, we will all build it together as long as you do the hammering, screwing and banging.

righto, i've stripped everything off of the mahogony plank and laid out all the new hardware just to make sure it all fits ok...
1st question of many...should the nut plate be counter sunk so the tuners can go up tight against the mullen board?[SEE PICTURES 6.11.15]

Tel, The nut roller’s TDC (top dead centre) must be directly above that fretline at the top of the fretboard which then creates your open tuning position so draw the tuner headstocks up to meet the neck and fit the roller assembly on top, if you are luck the holes may line up, you will of course have to drill into the tuner headstocks and tap a thread or make the hole .5mm under a self tapper size of your choice and lock it up with them. ;)
