I know that is a contradiction in terms. I got my guitar (Pro 111 Custom) back from Bob Adams yesterday. I will be posting some before and after shots later, but I can say at this stage that the end product is nothing short of astonishing.
There will be no Bud in the world that looks quite as pretty as this one.

Cant wait to see yer baby Ken.
Our Bob is a master at what he does, we are very lucky to have a guy in the UK with his talents, there are a few others I know, but Bob has a touch that can only come from a passionate player.

Some BEFORE shots. You will see in the close ups how the lacquer is badly checked, and the inlay appears to be coming away. This guitar is circa 1976, and has had a hard life doing thousands of gigs and a hundred and thirty five albums. One thing that hurts lacquer finish guitars is taking them from freezing conditions into a warm or hot room and visa versa. There are also a number of bar dings that are not visible.

Bob removed the changer fingers which had significant grooves in some of the E9 changer rollers. They were polished and lined up on Bob's special jig and then checked with a straight edge. You will see a mark on Bob's thumb where he had been using a lump hammer to get the fingers to line up.
(Just kidding - it was a sledge hammer).

Here she is shorn of stain and lacquer. The birdseye grain underneath is not too bad. There are no bad surprises under the stain as there are on some 'Buds.

I won't post any more pics in case Bob has some that he wants to put on from this stage, and we can keep them in chronological order.

Hi Guys,
Jumped in remotely, still in London, I’ll get on the case when I get back up the road.
I will look through the pre-pics though there will be nothing horrendous as it was very much in keeping with a guitar of its years and extensive use and was altogether desirable however the ‘old queen’ in her makeover is now something of a princess!and as you say there ain't another! Just happy you are pleased with your gal!

Ken furnished me with a track he has just laid down on the Bud since getting it back at the weekend so there was no course of action but to put a slide show to that sound!
The good wine is always kept to the last so be patient with the video until the end result, it is worth the wait! trust me! Sweet playing Mr Byng!
Hope y'all like it!

Fantastic !!! beautiful job, beautiful playing. I saw the job in various stages including Bobs hands, it was all worth it. I look forward to meeting you in Ireland.
