Here's a photo of my new steel. It's a 1988, Arlington built, EMCI. Many thanks to Ted Nesbitt with whom it's always a pleasure to do business. I must admit I was a little worried as I was very happy with the sound of my old Emmons SD10. However, I've bonded very quickly with this new steel. In any case it really was high time I started getting into C6th! I'm having a ball working out the old Jimmy Day classics.

Thats a great looking steel Paul, if it sounds as good as it looks it should be a keeper.
last year I changed over from a steel I had owned for best part of 30 years, really wasnt sure if I was going in the right direction, went to a PP EmmonsD10,couldnt quite get on with it, then went to a D10 Emmonms LG, have to say Ive settled with it now and honestly do not regret the change. We get so attached to our old steels, sometimes we just dont appreciate that things have moved forward and better things are out there.
best of luck with the new steel
Dave.

Paul, I was up at Teds fairly recently, taking delivery of my new Steel, and i saw your EMCI in the flesh, so to speak, and it really is a stunner, good luck with it, especially on the back neck, i dont think i will ever aspire to C6, I still got too much to learn on E9, Dave, i know exactly how you feel, after not getting on with the PP, and quickly changing to a modern Steel, i did the same with that lovely ZB Custom, we just didnt get along, i lost a bit of money, but bit the bullet, and traded it for a steel that i feel very at home with, and now im happy, and yes Paul, you are right about Ted, always a pleasure doing business with him, cos they dont come any straighter or more knowledgable than Ted, but then we all already knew that anyway,

Donny, I'm looking forward to seeing that Williams and you as well. I don't know if Ted has already sold my old Emmons LeGrande SD10 yet. If not someone is going to get a very nice steel. It's in perfect working order and it sounds fantastic. I didn't change because there was something wrong with my old steel. It was just one of things. Ted told me he had the EMCI in stock and some instinct told me to go and take a serious look. I had wanted to get in C6 for a long time - no better way to clear an audience from a steel festival!
Dave, I can easily understand why you settled with an LG D10. My friend, Phil O'Neill, has two of them and they really are a quality instrument. You can't deny a p/p has a special sound quality. However, they all have a lot of mileage on them at this stage and you're going to have mechanical issues with them.

Bob, I bet they are, I still miss the 'old gal' but have to say my new baby is the 'dogs' Like I said to Paul, we do get attached to our steels, sometimes with a little bit of blindness towards their ageing, wear and tear. I have to say you did a spanking job renovating the Clark, and the P/P but this Emmons LG will see me through.
