" Lappy " Christmas

In a previous post in the lap steel section Mike Hearn had suggested making a video on using bar slants, in response to that and John Davis posting a learn " Winter wonderland " pedal steel video, my combined answer to both posts is a video which may help Newbees and others, like myself, who are learning how to use bar slants on a lap steel.

Here is my version of "Winter blunderland " in the key of C# on a lap steel tuned to C6th, with a high G.

I will attempt to play this at a slower tempo showing forward and reverse slants as well as other bar positions, apart from that the backing track is too fast for my culpability

Finally regards musicality, I've read somewhere on previous posts, "If it sounds good, it must be good "
But the jury is still out in this case!
You can make up your own mind and tell me where I've gone wrong !
Merry Christmas to all.
Cheers, Robert

A nice go there Robert. Nice tone.

I have not really had a go at this myself so a couple of pointers out of the top of my head. In a vid a while ago Basil was looking at some slants and suggested that for accuracy it might be better to slide to the 4th or 5th chord using a straight bar as opposed to a slant. There were certainly a couple of places where for preference I would have gone for a straight bar. I will have a closer look at this after this weekend as I am gigging Saturday and am brushing up on my gig list.

I can only assume that this song was written in C#. Personally I would have gone for another key to open up a few possibilities.

On looking at the Steelpicker videos, has anyone noticed how many songs on pedal steel are played in the key of F. A big number. Going off subject. Sorry.

Keep up the good work.
