It's here at last, this flightless Chonchord, built in Leeds, comes complete with fancy handle to pull it out of the case!
Only 57 days till Christmas, below are a couple of snaps to help Sid with his important decision.
The pickups are great and no doubt Basil will share in the Christmas spirit and enlighten everyone with his knowledge of this " British " made guitar. :guitar:
Hope this information helps to sell it, might even tempt Danny, it would go nicely with the 6 stringer hidden under his bed! :guitar:

P.S. :censored:
Bah! humbug !!
Ah cannae huv it !!! :x.

I canna promise to bring it back exactly to the standard of your beautiful picture Robert, but it is well on its way to becoming a useful bit of kit..

Looking good, John! I sold a double 6 Conchord in order to fund my quest for a steel guitar with pedals, so this is very familiar ground :D
Very interesting to see how they have added the extra tuning pegs. At first glance I thought this was a double 6 like mine; I didn't realise they did an 8 stringer.

I had to take the pickups to pieces on mine and make a minor repair to the connection where the coil of wire around the pickup joins the output lead. I think someone had bodged this in the past, but I don't know why it would have failed. I have seen people unwind old pickups (winding the wire onto a bobbin), clean them, then rewind back off the bobbin before potting them in beeswax and putting back on the guitar. I don't know if paraffin wax might do the job just as well... I thought I might try this at home once, so I went to my local hardware store and asked for four candles, but for some inexplicable reason they told me to get lost!

Good luck with the rest of the restoration, and please keep us updated with the photos. :guitar: :guitar:
