Thanks Willie, that means a lot! I can’t claim credit for the -3 drop on the bottom E when the other two E’s are going up 1 but it is an absolute joy to mess with. And I would agree Ron, it does come with additional baggage as an instrument! I think of it as a bonus hobby and a good excuse to buy tools....

Definitely not an instrument that you get bored with easily, apart from the beautiful sound it produces the flexibility is infinite, hard work but very rewarding.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing your new pride and joy Calum, will try and make the "Cosh" next month, too many things going on this month unfortunately.

I said I would update on how this went. Well, the copedent didn’t make a full 24 hours before I decided that I no longer needed the drop on string 10 on pedal 3. I’ve got that note on 11. But lifting 12 a tone to match the BC minor seems like a nice shift and handy to have next to B as well as on the 0 pedal.
But the big wormy can got opened today. The big wormy can where they store the other wormy cans when they’re not wormy enough. Intonation! I was just thinking (no pun intended) about just v equal temperament v sweetened tuning when I realised I still had a pile of bits left over. So I could address the A pedal F lever intonation issue with compensator rods rather than split the difference when tuning. (For anyone who’s not come across this discussion yet, its to do with the way that the 12 note scale works, or rather the way it sometimes doesn’t. Tuning the G#’s slightly flat makes them work nicely with open chords and AB down but when you play A with F, they sound flat. Same reason a G string on a guitar always sounds crap. It’s to do with the compromise required to play thirds. )
Anyway, I’ve used the crossbar from the removed pedal 8 that I’ll never need and put three cranks and raise pulls on it on the G#”s. Then a crank on backwards with a rod going back to a normal crank on the F lever which lets me sweeten the strings on the A F combination. A sheer joy to play!
Fortunately I’ve only got two cranks spare now so the project may be nearly finished.

Anyway that plan had one nasty flaw. The A pedal minor chord ended up with an evil minor third that was flat. The solution is to pull the compensators from the A pedal instead of the F lever which was a five minute change.
Now getting close to Danny’s speciality. While he tries to plead that he can’t work a screwdriver, I have read the post on sweetened tunings describing in detail his hi tech computerised approach to tuning. Time to open another wormy can for breakfast.......
