MULLEN!! (update of buying advice thread)

Postby Robbie » Fri Jun 30, 2017 4:49 pm

thanks everyone for the advice in my previous thread where we debated new vs vintage etc

Well...

I've just ordered a brand new Mullen G2 D10 in black mica!!

Gone with a (very slightly altered) Paul Franklin E9 coped and Buddy's C6th coped- so that should keep me busy for the next 100 lifetimes.

Serious investment but a guitar for life I reckon.

I'll keep you posted and let you know when it arrives.

Two of the top players in the world play Mullen, i.e. Tommy White and Willie Gamble. They don't come much better than that. ;)

Nice one Robbie :guitar: That's you well sorted. I've had a wee go on Willie Gamble's SD10 and it's extremely smooth to play. As we say up here, "All the best when it comes" :D

Thank you Mr Bing, my my you don't half talk a load of bullocks, but thanks anyway Ken. I never imagined I would hear my name in the same sentence as the great Tommy White, What do you think of that Mr McMiser

Daniel, you are far too kind, thank you for the kind endorsements about my wonderful Mullen

Willie
Every time I hear you play live I am impressed with your tone and intonation. Your version of When You Wish Upon A Star was an inspiration on me to learn the tune and indeed I played it at the SoESGF last month. 'Nuff said. I'm sure that McMiser will agree with me 100%.

My pleasure Willie, I actually meant to comment in the Meetings Section about that Al Brisco tune you played the other night. Never heard it before, it was a belter :guitar: :guitar:

I'm sure Robbie's twin neck is going to be a peach.

The Mullen is a wonderful bit of engineering technology, but it's the "bum" on the seat behind it that brings out the best from the mechanics and makes it sing (or growl)

The guitar and Tommy White were made in America but the beauty of " Our Wullie" playing his Mullen is the fact that like "Irn Bru" he was made in Scotland from girders and is definitely a man of steel! :guitar: :guitar:

The tone from the Mullen is so amazing it ranges from the extreme pitch of a seagull crying, to a "Caley Mc Brayne" ferry foghorn, with a lot of beautiful melody and harmony in the middle! :guitar: (Thanks to the "bum" on the seat   )

This is only my "two pence" worth and humble opinion for what that's worth, but it's more than Mr Mc Miser has spent lately
Looking forward to hearing it again this month at Gartcosh
Robert
P.S. this endorsement is given freely, with no expectation of any financial gain!

No longer slummin, I’ve got a Mullen and a damn good amp as well,
they’ll be well played, if not played well, seat time alone must tell!

Robbie
Hope you are saving all your pennies for the import tax and duty on your new double neck (ie expensive) Mullen. The tax man will sting you large.
I bought a Ben-Rom from Canada. Had a big stand off with the tax man who took some convincing that Canadian dollars were not the same as US dollars. You won't have the same argument and they will cane you! Your £4K Mullen will tip the scales at nearer £6K. Enjoy!
