ANY IDEAS? I TYPED IN COMET DELUX LAP STEEL AND GOT EITHER SUPRO or FENDER?

Woking my little socks off in the studios.. But am home now, 01:20am and don't need to get up 'till 07:00 so I have time to say at this time I don't know what it is, BUT, I'll find out..

as i said earlier, the only search results i got were for supro and fender BUT none of them look anything like this guitar, hopefully it'll be here tomorrow/friday and i may have a no/ or more info! cheers Basil...

It certainly has a gibson kalamazoo shape head. Certainly not a Fender. Could be a Supro though Harmony made lots of lap steels for different firms. Often a Retail outlet or chain would have variations made for them specifically, and have their own names put on them. Put the pictures on the USA forum, they.ll come back with good suggestions.

it does look GISBONish...wont be though :( ...it does remind me of an early SELMER? but untill i get all the later addons off and back to basics its hard to tell...cant wait to finish work so i can get it outta the case...mmm that smell and anticipation ya get :) knowing my luck it'll be another pile of shite!

Well. geetar arrived friday, ripped off the many layers of bubble wrap etc, i was confronted with this

opened up the very well made case and saw this

plugged it in, it works? vol ok/ tone doesn't work...it sounds NICE!...but needs some work and investigating as to what make/model etc

Decided to strip it down to see what was what!
1st to go was the weird add on on the head by the nut, the strings went through? maybe to get a straight line on the strings?

2nd check out the machine heads, i think origianly there were strips like on acoustic guitars, there are 5 matching tuners which look old and 1 other which also looks old but doesnt match the other 5.

3rd dismantle the pickup ?cover...now this is where the oddities start...the cover isnt over the pup, but over the bridge?

there has been some alterations, and as you can see in the pic the bridge is a shaped lump of hard wood?

all seems to be old, all wires are connected, BUT what the hell is going on with the magnets...anyone know?
