I have recently bought a D10 MCI guitar from Eddie Barker. I have spent a few bob upgrading its mechanics with parts that I got from the USA, and it plays really well. However, the biggest shock for me is the tone. It is on a par with my push pull, and quite simply has incredible tone. It is fitted with Lawrence 705's which I love anyway, but acoustically it has amazing sustain.
I am surprised, as Bud Carter who was the chief designer also designed the MSA from the early/mid 1970's to early 80's and also the Carter guitar. Neither have the inherent tone that this guitar has. Many of the parts are interchangeable with a certain generation MSA, but tonally the difference is chalk and cheese.
If you get the chance to snap up one of these guitars, do it. You will just love the tone. Mine is a keeper, definitely.

I got an EMCI a few months ago from Ted. I'm very happy with it. I did a recording session last week in a studio where I had done a previous session with my old Emmons LeGrande. The producer commented that the new steel (EMCI) sounded much better than the old one (Emmons LG).
