Good use of pedal steel when backing a singer?

Postby Mcneilwaeasteel » Sun Apr 16, 2017 10:12 am

When viewing this on utube I immediately concluded this was a very good way to use pedal steel to back a singer appropriately, when it comes to traditional country music  Most players will disagree with my remarks, but it is well worth a listen :guitar:
Now I've got to figure out how to add the link:

Don't know if this works but it should show Martina McBride singing " you win again" on AOL sessions, it also shows how pedal steel originated :o
Hope you enjoy this clip
Regards to all, no matter what guitar you play :guitar:
Robert
No longer slummin, I’ve got a Mullen and a damn good amp as well,
they’ll be well played, if not played well, seat time alone must tell!

Paul Franklin is great but it just sounds like he's pretty much trying to emulate Don Helms. For a real masterclass in tasteful accompaniment in that style you're better off listening to the original Hank Williams recordings. Often imitated, never equalled.
