Good use of pedal steel when backing a singer?

When viewing this on utube I immediately concluded this was a very good way to use pedal steel to back a singer appropriately, when it comes to traditional country music Most players will disagree with my remarks, but it is well worth a listen

Yes you are right Robert, the great Paul Franklin on lap steel. Great video not pedal steel, but you knew that you rascal

Paul Franklin is great but it just sounds like he's pretty much trying to emulate Don Helms. For a real masterclass in tasteful accompaniment in that style you're better off listening to the original Hank Williams recordings. Often imitated, never equalled.
