Hi guys,

Apologies for the poor sound (iphone recording). This is a rough recording of me playing an intro to a Rubettes song (steel by Rick West).

Just thought i'd share. Feedback welcome!

Hi Brad,

Sounds like you're getting the hang of this multi-limbed beast ;)

Getting a nice tone, pretty accurate timing and pitch. Keep it going you've definitely got the feel for it :D

Rick Westwood - aka Rick West ex Tremeloes - has been a long time pedal steel fan and player. He is a great guitarist, and is pretty knowledgeable on steel players from the USA. I used to see Rick's cousin - also a Westwood - when I occasionally played in the Winchester area, and he would come along to see me play with my band Rye Whiskey Road Band.

Anyway Brad, I have to say that you have a real grasp on pick blocking. This is something that many players struggle to master, and you have it off pretty darn good. Keep at it and you will be really first class. :D

Thank you so much Ken. It's really motivating to get positive responses!

My older brother put me on to this song. He's a friend of an ex-Rubettes member and we decided to figure the introduction out; on the record Rick's tone is real-nice-old school!

Hey it's a small world huh? Do you know if Rick still plays? And do you have any links of other songs he is on?

Thanks again Ken!

Brad.
