New BenRom

Postby Bent Romnes » Thu Sep 20, 2012 1:15 am

Hello British friends,
Here is the latest BenRom. It is nicknamed the Blackbird Too since it is twin brother to the one that went to Massachusetts in May.
This one will be airlifted to Northern Norway Friday.
It has the usual BenRom set-up: 4 pedals, 5 knees, triple raise/lower, brass changer fingers and brass gauged rollers.

That's gorgeous Bent.
It's good to see a picture of you at the steel also.
New fret boards? That looks better.
Atle is I think planning 2013 at Kvalsvic.
Maybe see you again there if the event has us on.
I will have a BenRom one day I hope. ;)

Frank, thanks so much for looking and commenting.
David, Now that you told me about Kvalsvik 2013, the wheels started turning... It would sure be great to go there, and spend another weekend in your company. I enjoyed the previous one so much.
Thanks for looking, listening and commenting so kindly.
In case you are wondering where your tune went to on my website, please have patience it will be back. My web man is just so busy and a bit forgetful as well.

Bent,

Good to see the article on you in the BSS Newsletter. Praise where it's due... We have corresponded on the builders'forum. I'm interested in what prompted you to use brass for the changer fingers. Do you think you get better tone? The fingers on my Curnow steel are aluminium, and I think that's part of the reason why it doesn't sound so good at the top end.

Anyway, thanks for posting the pictures, very nice eye candy as always.

All the best

Will, sorry for replying so late. The reason I use brass is to my way of thinking, since brass and bronze is used in church bells, some of that wonderful sound and sustain might just make a great sound and sustain in a steel guitar as well. There is division among the experts here. Some say aluminum is the best thing. I go by my ear I suppose.
