C6th - what do you have on top?

Looks like Paul B nailed it
i have the D on string 1 - if i want to have a G on top, i just move up a tone & a half / 3 frets ( in C, fret 0 to 3 ) w: pedal 5 that lowers string 5 a half step & the lever that raises string 3 a half step
from what i had understood, Buddy E put the D on top - he did use the G on top like many
D on top makes for better the knitting does'nt it ...?
one of the reasons i like the D10 : the old & the new school in one
it'a shame to have a C6 neck & not use it - it's such a fabulous tuning

Hey, CB, remember you got that "pair-o'-knees" you keep talking about A lot of guitars don't raise the third and just have the standard one KL that lowers it. That's what I meant in the first post, about adding levers. Totally agree about how good C6th is.
I know what you mean, but wait till somebody asks about the knitting T.

I love C6 playing too. However, I have observed that the best way to cause a mass audience exodus at a steel guitar show is for someone to start playing C6.

i understand that many steelers only have the " basic " C6 set up w: 2 levers C to B on 3 & A to Bb on 4 & 8 ( which is plenty already)
i do have those of course - i have these as well : C to C# on 3 & 7 - G to F on 5 - E to Eb on 2 &6 - A to Bb on 4 & 8 - C to B on 3 - A to Ab 4 & 8 on P4
to keep folks from leaving the premises, i try to get funky on C6 & do " sex machine "

Actually I find the theme from "Exodus" to be quite suited to the C6 and not so easily played in the E9. Probably because of it being based on the pentatonic scale. Come to think of it Exodus would fit in quite well with "Mass"..
