Slide guitar aka Lap Steel Guitar aka Hawaiian Guitar

Sat Jul 21, 2018 8:10 am

Hi,

So my question is if anyone knows how to create some kind of a slide guitar sound in Reason. It seems like it'd be difficult (impossible?) to make a sampled refill for this due to the way MIDI is tied to specific tones and ignores the micro-pitches between them. I was thinking about playing around with the Portamento controls on Thor or maybe messing around with the Micro-Tune RE which I don't have but I believe is pretty cheap. Has anyone tried this before? Had any success? Any suggestions? Do I have generally the right strategy? Would you be interested in such an instrument if I could cook one up What say you?

Please help.

I did not find the right solution from the Internet.

Hello John,
I think you've come to the wrong place in your search for an ersatz steel/slide guitar.

The only example of this kind of thing, that I've heard, is in the program Band In A Box. Pretty good, but no where near as juicy as the real thing. As a committed midi user, since the Atari days, I'd recommend, getting a steel, rolling up your sleeves and bringing a bit of balance to your musical experience. Come on down, you'll love it :guitar:
