I will when I've finished the latest issue of the magazine and strung up the guitar and set it up with my tunings, I had it C6th and E9th when I took it to the Cambridgeshire gig. I need to change it for my A7th and E6th tunings. Soon, I promise, time is at such a premium and it marches on regardless, 67 and I feel 16.. :guitar:

It's amazing how much Fender must have spent on tooling, and then only made a handful of instruments.

If I understand the video correctly, it looks like the aprons are an extrusion, and tooling for that doesn't come cheap, unless it's a standard 'off the shelf' extrusion.

Zebedee, you are quite correct, the tooling cost a packet according to some ex Fender employees. The extrusion dies and the moulds for the end-plates alone must have cost upwards of $75.000 and the stampings of the various plate sections are from dies that can handle EN34 and then the metalwork was case hardened to a depth of at least 0.015"
(Probably Sodium Cyanide @ 940c) The pedals were die-cast from special moulds, all in all a very expensive process to produce just 15 guitars, of which only six have their whereabouts known. Probably none is in better shape than mine.
I'm a lucky SOB, but then again I've got a collection of Fender steels that is unique.

NOW for some fun and LAUGHS,

It's all becoming clear now :?: :?:

That's not a pedal steel, it's an Enigma machine

From Wikipedia:

'An Enigma machine is any of a family of related electro-mechanical machines used for the encryption and decryption of secret messages'.
