Finished my 4th build

Thu May 12, 2016 9:28 am

I build my own 'pedal steels', couldn't afford the cost of a new one so I decided to make my own, I am not much of a player but a retired 'toolmaker' with time on his hands and an inability to suffer boredom.
I received advice from Dave Wheelhouse, a nice guy, and our own John Davis has helped me get to the, (almost) finished articles now.
I am currently doing a write up on the process of making one of those fascinating, frustrating instruments known as the 'Pedal Steel Guitar', when I finish the write up I will see if maybe 'Uncle Roy' would like to put some bits in the newsletter.

The photo shows the 'stable' at the moment and the 'Yellow' one is the recent build.

Best Regards to all.

They look crackin' Ron! I doff my cap in respect and amazement for your endeavours. I cannot imagine the tasks involved, I still find a string change a traumatic affair.

I look forward to reading your account of the builds, and although I won't understand much of it, I do enjoy a bit of tech porn :guitar:

One comment I'd like to make - where's the "RonSteel" logo???

Just for you Danny, but no relation to the 'car' unfortunately

Thanks for the compliment

Aha! The aerial shot reveals all :geek: 'Pure Quality', as we say up here in Weegieville. :guitar:

I'd still like to see it emblazoned on the front. Loud and proud.

One more comment, if I may, from a newbie perspective. I find different fret markers, by colour and/or design, help with navigating the neck. It's something I'd like to change with my GFI (the highlighters are poised)

You can always see if you could find something suitable on this site Danny.

But unless you get them 'custom made' its difficult.
