Over the past few years I have had quite a few people asking me to "re home" their steel guitars as they no longer play any more or cannot play any more for lots of different reasons and this I have done but, off the top of my head I can think of at least 4 or maybe more that within about 6 months of selling have been bitten by the steel bug again and regret parting with their guitar so, here is the very, very, very good advice,,,,,,, Do not sell that beautiful thing unless you are more than sure that you will NEVER EVER want to see it again! !! It cost you a lot of money, The one you replace it with (if you are able) will never be as good or feel the same as the one you have now lost....... It is already paid for, it eats nothing if you keep it under the bed! .... it is always there if you again get the inclination to have another go.....
Please heed this advice however old or infirm you are, regardless of your state of health, The Steel bug bites when it feels like it and you will need that instrument to satisfy the craving.

You are so right JD, I have seen this countless times in the 35 years of running the BSS. I could mention two well known UK players who have been through this but I won't.

Well said!
I can't even begin to tell you the stories I've heard of heartache from selling gear on, I sold my Hammond L100 and matching leslie 9 years ago and I still kick myself every other day. I'll never sell my Fender, I live in the vain hope I can own a fleet of steels.
