FROM HAWAII TO NASHVILLE TO LAGOS: A PEDAL STEEL PRIMER

Thu Apr 09, 2015 9:59 am

Just came across this article on the "Pedal Steel Guitar" Facebook page:

http://www.afropop.org/22267/from-hawai ... el-primer/

Aside from a bit of traditional background knowledge (Bud Issacs' use of pedals on Slowly etc.), there's a great section on the use of the instrument in African music.

I found it very interesting. It's great to see what the instrument can do when applied to different contexts.

If anyone has any recommendations for listening/reading material on those who use pedal steel in a non traditional way I'd be very grateful to hear them!

Cheers.
Joe.
