Dave,
As a builder, what part(s) in your opinion, contributes most to the tone of a steel and why.
Might sound an obvious question, but just interested to know what gives different makes their own sound.
They basically use the same wood and shape etc. but makers are a bit coy about giving this sort of info.
Nice workmanship.

Hi Tony, that's a good question. I can't put my finger on just one thing and definitely say it's this or that, I believe that it's an amalgamation of all the parts which should be of the highest quality and the overall construction should be the same quality. Shape, design and type of materials used do play a major part but for instance, we are all lead to believe that the best tone comes from a push pull? However if you listen to Steve Palousek CD Let the games begin (Awesome tone) he is playing an all pull guitar. Then you Can have the same make of guitar same models the tone could be slightly different, also pick ups, string types and who is playing the guitar. I hope this helps.
Dave.

Thanks Dave, you're saying just what I thought and what Paul Franklin says.
It seems no one can put their finger on it .
Just read an article by Jerry Fessenden and he says the same.
Thanks anyway and keep on knocking out those beauties.
Tony
