My new (old) Marlen SD10

Hi all,

Great to meet some of you the other day at John's gathering in Gt. Barford; if we didn't speak, I was the young, bearded, guitarless one lurking around the back of the hall...

Anyway, on Saturday I headed over to Will C's place to pick up my first psg, his old '72 Marlen SD10, and I couldn't be happier! From what I gather a fair few of you've had a hand in modding her up over the years, so rest assured she's gone to a good (and very enthused!) home.

Now to learn how to make her sing...

I also took the fretboard off her and discovered some beautiful birdseye maple beneath - going to have to find some way of showing that off at some point. Have any of you got experience of scoring your own fretboards in that way?

Ah, that was you Zebedee!? I spent a long time watching that video when I was researching the Marlen before I picked her up - Tracy's Waltz is firmly in my head and on my list of tunes to learn - lovely smooth playing! And thanks for helping set her up, she plays like a dream.

Didn't I see a pic of somebody with an "All American" (Marlen) at Gt.Barford? I had one to work on a couple of decades ago - didn't have a Marlen logo on it, but Leonard Stadler's plate on the underside. CBA setup, 3+4 anybody know if it's the same one?

I believe (Will, correct me if I'm wrong) it's one and the same! There's a 4th pedal on it now, but it's not connected up to anything.

Sorry I've not posted on the forum in a while - life got a bit busy with a job and moving up to London! Not enough practice (it'll be a long time before I'm as smooth and toneful as Zebedee) but I'll try to get a vid of her up soon...

My Marlen says 'All American' on it, I was at Gt Barford about three years ago with it. It's only a 3x3 but has Leonard Stadler's plate on it, I think it dates from 1975.

The one I dealt with had (I'm sure) a little bit of damage to the plastic pickup cover? T.
PS - I thought it was a stunning looker!
