New Lightweight case

Got the idea from the US forum to try a Gator Pro 49 keyboard case. Super lightweight but still quite robust as long as you’re careful. MSA legend 12 in case 17.6 kilos. I could do a better job of the interior and will do if I get around to it.

I recently needed a cradle and a case for a pedal steel and thought Calum's idea could be put into practice, so I acquired a 61 key keyboard case from "Fleabay " and built a wooden cradle or " coffin " to protect the steel and hold the guitar while working on it.
The case holds the guitar comfortably when wrapped in a large towel, with legs in a bag the pedal bar is all neatly wrapped in a fleece rug as in the picture, the case folds away into a small package for easy storage when not in use.
The strap and carrying handle make it easier to carry and the elastic straps should stop things from bursting free. This all weighs in at 17.4 kilos but I still have the gubbins to be added under the steel but that's work in progress!
The cradle protects the guitar and holds it secure while working on the undercarriage
It can even be placed over the guitar when the legs are fitted, a plant pot could be placed on top to help the pedal steel blend in with the decor a bit more, pleasing the good lady no end!
Before I rebuild the guitar a request to Calum and Jeff to come up with a prototype using servos, stepper motors and Bluetooth to operate the changers instead of mechanical linkages, this would save me a lot of work and give Calum something to think about while sailing the seven seas!
