what a beast!

how do you tune a double 12?

E9 gets a low G# and E?

how about the bottom neck?

and what changes on the new strings?

Hi Henry,

Front neck is an extended E9Th 11th string is another G# up to A on the B pedal and the 12th string is another E to E Flat on the 4/8th lower knee lever and up to F on the F lever with the 4/5 strings, sounds absolutely superb when you play the big thick chords to fill out behind the singer.

The C6th has the extra strings on the first and second strings ,I have at the moment a D on the first string and a E on the second string don`t use them a lot but they are great for some of the quicker fills.

I also raise the 9th up to E lower the two G#s and raise the 7th up to G...

You really ought to be very careful Jimmy. You got rid of a twin Carter because it was to heavy and buggered up your back, and you got rid of the twelve string universal in favour of a single 10 which makes sense if you want to look after your back. So why now a twin 12 Sho-Bud????? That has got to be one of the heaviest guitars on earth. Beautiful guitar, definitely, but Jimmy your not 25 any more!!!! Dave.

Dave You are correct in what you say, but because I only do the odd gig, about one a month, the steel just sits in my lounge and looks and sounds absolutely superb. When I do any gigs I stand the steel in the car set up.. [ yes my car does have a very tall and big boot ].. and that makes things a lot easier,and I also use two cases it I have to break it down.

If I were doing a lot of gigs I would buy another S10 to use on most of the gigs.

The reason I bought this Bud is because I have never seen a D12 Bud and I did not even know they made them, and I fancied something a bit different than a regular D10, it is a superb steel the best Bud I have ever had, and I got it at a very fair price. and I may be wrong but I think this one may be the only D12 Bud in this country, and yes it is a tad heavy but I don`t have to load it into the car very often so it don`t matter.

After getting some not very nice news from my Doctor, I have decided to part with this beautiful steel and would swap for a decent universal or a good SD10 This steel is an absolute beauty but because of doctors orders I have been advised not to lift any thing that may cause more problems ,so don`t miss out on a great deal no money just a straight swap for the right steel.

This guitar was put together by the late, great Duane Marrs from Tennessee. I bought it after it had literally been laying under a bed for over 20 years. It is a very nice example of a big body Sho~Bud. I have got so used to playing D10's for the past 45 years, and the extra 2 strings on both necks just threw me every time I played it. I like to play my guitars, so reluctantly sold it to someone on this forum for a very modest price. That person later sold it on to Jimmy G.

Jimmy - I hope you get a deal sorted out. I would value the guitar in the current climate at around £1500 - £1600.

Thanks for you input Ken,yes this Bud is easily worth what you say ,it is a real nice example of an all original Bud,But i am in a situation where the problems I have, have got to the point that my doctor has advised me to take things easy .

This is a superb steel in every way and I know who ever has it will be very pleased, but I will Waite and see what comes along.

Sorted I now have a real nice Sho-Bud Super Pro,so much lighter than the big bodied D12 and with two cases no more problems with the weight.
