A friend of mine has found some old Buddy Emmons lessons on cassette tape – images attached. The tapes play OK but we are wondering if there was any written material with them. Can anybody enlighten us?

Thanks

Ken

I had the basic C6th course and it came with a book (long gone) are they just tracks or is there verbal instruction?
I also had (via Scotty) some Emmons tunes by Russ Wever that were very good on the instruction side but not good recording quality....

I believe they are just tracks and also tracks without the steel so I'm guessing there must have been a book. Actually, tracks are not Buddy Emmons playing but various other steelies - Russ Hicks, Doug Jernigan, Jimmy Crawford and John Hughey. It would appear to be a course produced by the Emmons company, not Buddy Emmons himself.

They were part of a 52 week course to teach you to play one tune a week. Each of the 4 cassettes had 13 tunes and each tape featured a different steelie, those names that you have said. And yes there was tab for all of the tracks on each tape, except the last track on each tape which was a bonus of that particular steelie playing. Somewhere in my loft I have those tapes and all the tab sheets that went with them. Regards Graham
