On line tuition for C6th 10 string pedal

Posted: Mon Jan 06, 2025 8:14 am
Hi all - I have recently purchased a 10 string pedal steel in C6th and am finding it a lot harder than I had thought to get the basics off.

I am sure people have asked before but are there any good online resources of courses for C6th pedal steel that I could pay for and down load and also is there any one in the midlands who teaches who I could pay for professionally and sit down with for a few hours to get the basics started

Hi dombrace,

There are a few places I have found that provide some good insights into the C6 neck - I should point out that I am still a beginner so these are all pretty useful if you're starting out.

* Modern Music Masters - the Paul Franklin method is a full course (at a full price tag!) but has a few free videos that give the outline of chord groups / construction
* "Steel Picking" youtube channel has some good C6 tips
* I have a photocopy of the Buddy Emmons "Introduction to C6th" booklet which you'd be welcome to borrow.

I found that just knowing how to get the different inversions of a given chord was a great starting point, as well as working out how to get from I to IV to V in various configurations.

Good luck in the quest, Sid
