I think this could be a very helpful and enduring topic to a lot of people IF ONLY there was some easy means of putting a sound clip on with your lick so we could hear what we are aiming for :( I am one of the unfortunates that has trouble learning though I can play almost any sound in my head but to read and understand it different ball game alltogether!! :( :( Come on admin..... what can you do to help us out here?? is there a simple soloution??? :) :guitar:

You can add MP3 files to posts (see MP3s in Posts), but these have to be already hosted elsewhere, there is no upload facility.

By far the easiest way is to upload your soundclip to YouTube. It doesn't have to be video, there is lots of software which will let you make an audio slideshow from still images with a backing track, or even just a single image. Then just upload this to YouTube.

Hope I've understood what you were asking for!

I'm back because I got caught, read the last line, He found out!!!! OOOOOoops!!!

Emmons setup with RKL raising 1st a full tone and lowering 6th a full tone, RKR lowering 2nd a full tone, (LKL / E-F & LKR E-F) LKV lowers 5/10 B-Bb I should perhaps have shown my knees but hey! You’re not paying me enough for that! So here we go I will try and write the changes to the times on the video!

Key of ‘C’

The video starts a tad abrupt, so if you replay it will sound clearer!

Video times
0.0 - 0.02secs
Pick 5,4,2 at third fret with A pedal and RKR engaged for unison notes sliding from fret 3 to 6,5,6,8 and back to the 6th fret

0.03 -0.04
At that point engaging LKV and RKL while picking strings 5,4,1 release LKR (1st string)

0.05- 0.09
Engaging LKR & RKL together move back two frets engaging the A pedal and moving from LKR to LKL at the 4th fret on then on ‘A’ pedal and LKR move down to the rest of the normal’ish bit!

The final ‘C’ chord resolves on the 1st fret engaging only LKR and RKL no pedals.

The little bit of backing was to cover up the noise of a fan I should have switched off first!

And finally thank you to Donny I just pinched a shot of your new guitar! ;) ta!

Hey this is a fantastic thread for us newbies. It's really helping me. Thanks guys and keep 'em coming.

By the way, does anyone pick licks off recordings by ear? Its pretty easy with a six string and I've done it for years but I find it so difficult with pedal steel because of all the possible inversions and string groups that could be used.
