I had a great lesson with David earlier this week..I can't recommend it enough..This guy has got all the tricks in the book, and some of em aren't as difficult as they sound. Dave is obviously a monster player but he's also a pro teacher. I have a tendency to freeze up in front of people but i felt very comfortable.

I learnt a bucket load of stuff, things that will be fundamental to my playing for as long as i can play..stuff like using wide grips, how to tune it correctly, dampening techniques, he even had a little tweak of my amp and made it sound sweeter than ever....

Right, enough...if you want to learn something go and see him..

Thanks Matt.

For you all, a DVD of my tuitional material is in the making.
It's been in the thinking for many months now.
It will be many weeks yet but will inform you all when it's done.
I haven't decided whether to include printable tab files or have them on screen.
I have experimenting to do and even more thinking.
The one thing I have decided on is that it will have everything for everyone.
Not just for beginners with basics that we should all know and practice from time to time, but for the players who must know how to play the clever 'must know' steelie licks.

I had a great lesson with David yesterday afternoon, got loads of stuff to learn and practice. It was a long Journey for me but worth every mile. David's a fantastic player and teacher and a really nice guy , easy to get on with, and explains things slowly and clearly. David even fixed a mechanical tuning problem I didn't even know I had with my Steel.
David recorded the main points of the lesson and I came away with a CD full of stuff to learn.
If you need help with your playing, I'd highly recommend David.
Thanks very much David for a Great afternoon.

Just want to write a quick message to say thanks to David for a fantastic lesson this week. I spent a full day at his lovely home in the country and can't recommend the lessons enough - David is completely open about the tricks and techniques he uses, patient and insightful with his advice, and gave me a HUGE amount of stuff to go away with.
I would have to agree with previous comments about feeling at ease, it makes such a difference to work with a teacher who has such a relaxed and supportive manner.
I came away even more excited about playing and with my mind absolutely whirring with ideas.
Great stuff!

Had a very inspirational day with David, meeting the night before for a pint and a chat (Premier Inn, Thetford is handy and has a decent attached pub too).

David has a relaxed tuition style and is very entertaining to boot. Don't be fooled though, he is watching every move that you make and will correct you time and time again if you keep (as I did) making the same mistakes over and over again. He is tireless and won't stop until he's happy that you will go away 'doing it right'.

As well as the amazing tuition, it is such a pleasure to just watch David playing - quite amazing. Add the teaching, and the playing to the wealth of stories and sheer knowledge he has and is keen to share and you have quite a special experience.

I had the full 8 hours and ended the day exhausted but buzzing and determined to get on with implementing what I had been taught.

The nearly 500 mile return trip was immaterial when I consider what I got.

I'll be back!

Thanks David

John

I had a 3 hour lesson with David yesterday - it was an 8 hour round trip, but well worth the effort. David was enthusiastic and very encouraging covering exactly what I needed. He checked my pedal steel set up and sound, and then assessed my ability level so that he could take me to the next level - Now for the hard part, practising everything that he showed me yesterday!!

Thanks David.
