The Bar

As a beginner I am curious to know how much influence on the tone you produce is influenced by the type of bar you use. I know you can buy various lengths and weights depending on what you feel comfortable with. Prices seem to vary a great deal so what is the benefit of spending a considerable sum on one. I would guess the quality of the chrome is one factor. At the moment I am using a Jim Dunlop and it's probably me rather than the bar that produces the bad tone.

Try a BJS. You will notice a big difference, and won't use anything else after owning one...

I have two bars, one is a Jim Dunlop 7/8" x 3.250" long & the other a 1" x 3.750" long. I prefer the 1" bar. What makes these "BJS" bars so special?

I have a BJS standard bar here, ( as new one only) that you can have for £40 plus P/Packing...........
Heavy bar gives better tone but moves a little slower and you get you arthritas quicker (its a compromise)
I have learned to pick a little further away from the pick up improves tone (Gordons advice)....

BJS goes through a hand made process before being sent away to be industrial hard chromed.
You can drop them and they won't mark at all.
Johns £40 is a bargain, grab it...

I was assuming John was offering the bar to 'elcantando'... My query about the BJS bars was because the Jim Dunlop bars are also made of Stainless Steel & of similar weight & dimensions & I couldn't see why a BJS bar would be better...I can imagine that Jim Dunlop & Ernie Ball products are mass produced & shipped around the world on a large scale whereas these BJS bars are of a more limited production

the chrome is harder & of better quality on the BJS than the Dunlop & Ernie Ball bars
they don't wear or get scratched as fast as those two do
