I subscribed a while ago to Claus Levin https://www.guitarmastery.net/ at his website and youtube channel, and have been really impressed with his 'science' of practising - his courses are all aimed at guitar, but the practising parts equally apply to steel guitar. Just thought I'd share the link with you as there's a lot to think about there, and a lot of it is free.
One of his points is that your playing will only be as good as your weakest playing skill, and for me on PSG I find pick blocking (amongst other things!) is tricky. So I set myself a few simple exercises to practise picking 'p - i - m' again and again, but slowly, and making sure I blocked the previous string at about the same point as I plucked the next one. Result, after about 10 minutes per night for a week, is that my pick blocking is noticeably better - still a long way to go, but definitely better!
Hope that's of some interest to the other learners among us - I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any similar (or opposite!) experience!
