Pete since that attempt I figured out about another 3 ways of doing it but none sound as sweet as what Mike is doing there and I am not happy with any of them!

Could not find a big enough glass for my girl so she looks a bit squashed in there.... but as you can see its a work in progress!

John, I listened to your version from Saturday, but I don't think it sounds like what Mike plays. The crucial thing is to get the 5th string ringing at fret 5 (the second note) then slide it up to fret 8 while it is still ringing for the third note.

What you are doing isn't sounding like that, and you don't get the sound of all the strings ringing together and overlapping, which only happens at fret 8. I'm happy that my version sounds like what Mike does, and the neat thing about doing this is (1) it's not what you would be expecting to do (key of D doesn't usually stop at 8) and (2) it's a good general lick to get from the 1 chord (D)to the 4 chord (G), via the 7th (D7).

I know you don't dig explanations like that, and it's a pity you don't read tab, as the tab shows how it works, but I can *show* you next time I drop by.

Will, I don't think what I did sounds like Mike either, and that after finding several different ways of playing those notes, I am always up for learning a new lic and look forward to your next visit :), consider myself fortunate to have a tab interpreter......
You must admit that my girl in a pint glass is a bit of an improvement even though she is a bit overweight ??

Is this what you mean by leaving the strings ringing?

Thanks John, there will be another mile on the clock next week providing I can survive the crash when learning this one  :guitar:
No longer slummin, I’ve got a Mullen and a damn good amp as well,
they’ll be well played, if not played well, seat time alone must tell!

Yes John, that's pretty much what I am trying to achieve, I think it's what Mike Sigler is doing, or it sounds like it.
