For Newbies.

Mon Dec 29, 2014 6:40 pm

Bought a steel guitar, or has the instrument caught your attention and you would like to know a little more about it.
Here is a small effort on my part to introduce you to the same in a beginners way. :?
We all have to start somewhere, and here is the place you will find the most help.
There are many fine steel players on this who will only be too glad to help you along your way and take you on from this start, good luck in your endeavour to proceed, and hope to see you up here asking questions soon.

oh cool! I'd never thought of the tucking the right hand ring finger in for muting. Do many guys do this?

I tuck my right ring finger under for blocking, it gives me my sound.

I do, along with my little finger. :) I can't play with my little finger sticking out like my mate Gerry Hogan and a few others do. Just feels unnatural somehow.
