Beginners on You-Tube

Wed Jan 04, 2012 8:59 am

Hi Guys,

Just a thought, I was wondering if it would be a good Idea to create a You-Tube channel for Beginners (not exclusively but thats the main target) videos. I'm happy to create the channel, That way we could all put our efforts on the channel to help and encourage each other.
We could call it Beginners Steel or something similar with a password we could post on here (obviously so we can all get on and post to it).
What do you think?

Shaun, I think it,s a great idea, anything that gets anyone more involved in this instrument has to be good. My wife got me a video camera for Christmas and when I learn all the buttons to push I will put some stuff on this site, "that translates to when Bob shows me how". If there were a dedicated beginners site I will go there to.

Hi John,

Yes the Idea is that we can all post to the site (channel). Individual sites, like yours, are great and full of really usefull and enjoyable videos.
But, unless I'm mistaken, I dont think I could post a video, onto your site (channel) for instance, without sending it to you to upload for me or you giving me (or anyone else) your password to your site, which is pretty undesireable.

So I was thinking of creating a new channel and putting its login details on here so any of us could login to the chanel and upload a video.

The downside is, it could get out of hand with no-one having direct control. What I'm thinking here is if someone logged on and posted a video, there'd be nothing to stop somebody else logging on and deleting the same video. I'm not suggesting any of us would do that deliberately but people could get upset if it did happen.

The advantage, of course, is that we have a central point to post our videos.

Its all open for discussion.

If you decide to go ahead, I definitely wouldn't post the account details here. Remember this forum is public for all to see, not just registered members.

if this can be of any help to y'all
i set up a "steel guitar france " youtube account
so that members could post their vids
only 2 of us have so far
in order for it to funktion properly, the admin gives out a password to the member so he can post
once that's done the admin resets the password back to the original "secret" pw
when another member wants to post, a new password is issued to him so he can post
when he's done, the admin resets the pw again as to avoid unwanted grief
members can always get a pw to get back in when needed

you could start a new thread, called Beginners Videos, and any member could then post a video here from his or hers youtube channel. that way, only the member involved gets to add or delete it. and we'd all be able to watch it on here? what do you think, Shaun? not too far removed from your original plan?

Thanks for your input guys, Yes Jason I'd been thinking along the same lines. As you say, we can just provide a link on here to our videos. That way each of us are in control of any videos we post. So, that being said I'll create the new thread now and see how it goes.
