How to adjust the volume pedal?

I have not been able to find the answer on the Internet although I tried it.The question to which I would like to know the answer is how to set the volume pedal when it is in the starting position? Whether the signal strength should be on 0% or maybe about 10-30% of maximum strength? One month after the purchase of the instrument I used the VP for the first time yesterday and it was a pretty big confusion in my play,maybe the most because of that what most of my concentration was focused on not interrupting the signal,so I guess it would be much easier to work with initial 20-30% signal strength but maybe I'm wrong, so I would like to hear the opinions more experienced than me.Thank you in advance for the advice.

Hi Toni, As I know it is a goodrich pedal you have my advice is use it as it is do not mess with the setting of the cord that turns the pot. When a pedal is put together it is important that it reaches the pedal flat out position slightly before the pot has reached its full rotation, the wiper inside the pot is quite delicate and can be damaged if its turned "Flat out" against the stop by a powerful right foot.... it is common practise to set them up with a meter to ensure this does not happen.

I always have about 20% signal passing through my volume pedal when it is physically backed off as far as it will go.

I have found that I get a better sound / tone by having my volume pedal set this way.

I use a Goodrich passive pedal, so I drilled and tapped a screwhole in the back of the pedal, which allowed me to use a grubscrew to set the amount of up travel on the pedal

I agree with Richard. A tiny bit of signal bleed through in the full off position is preferable than full off, whether it's a pot pedal or a potless one. Once you have your pedal set where it's to your personal taste, it's best to leave it set in that position.

Thanks Ken,I have to admit that earlier I did not often use VP, especially not in this way. I used it just to change another instrument during the play or to adjust the strength of the instrument in the band mix.
