I've never attempted to record a Steel guitar instrumental until recently when I recorded a Slow MOR blues jam as incidental music for a DVD, but my favourite piece of my own recorded Steel playing (non pedal) is on the intro to "I Love the South", a song about a visit to Tennessee and Kentucky a few years ago.
It's here, if you click the little radio!

Maybe this was my best on Pedal Steel:-

Or this alternative version using resonator:-

This is the only track I've recorded that I can honestly say I was happy with. Played on my old Sho-Bud through Peavey Nashville using Goodrich Match-bro for the dobro effect and done in one take with no editing. The picture is of Ken Astill our singing drummer who some of you in the North of England may know.

Zumsteel Encore 3+5, Mooer Red Truck, Goodrich Match-Bro, Tech 21 Para Driver, Roland Cube 30x, Guvnor dobro, '89 Fender Squier, '84 Tokai Breezysound Tele, and several accoustic guitars. COPD and bad back!

still learning, so I'm rather critical of my performances on recordings... could do better, but I'm reasonably happy with my playing on this:
Crawford County - Bob Collum's EP 'The New Old Thing'

Probably my favourite steel recording to date, certainly one of my favourites at live shows.

On other instruments, well that's another story.....

My best and favourite was a live recording at the British Steel Festival a few years ago - Albatross.

I did some stuff last year with this band who are doing really well – pedal steel on Radio 1, hooray...

I only hear the faults but hopefully some bits worked okay.

Be aware... this is rock/folk/alternative, not country. Also... 10 seconds until music starts, steel does not enter until 1.58. Contains distortion, and a rude word.

Different song, shorter, sweeter and an easier listen...

Played on Sho-Bud S-10 into Fender Champ

sounding great on both, Rick! lovely vibrato on the first track and that's a great tone you're getting through the champ

this a recording of a gig in Bristol, I came out really loud in the mix (ooops! ). but that was the sound engineer's fault!
