Jeffrey Foucault and Eric Heywood

I had the immense privilege to see Eric Heywood play with singer-songwriter Jeffrey Foucault in Barry last night. Eric's playing was sublime and very distinctive. It was a lesson in how to complement a singer without using country licks.

I had a ringside seat and was able to watch him get the most beautiful sounds out of his Williams. I spoke to him later about his guitar and he told me it was an 11-string with an added low E – I always though he played a 12-string with extended E9. His right hand technique was incredible to watch as he moved it up and down the neck not just for harmonics but to alter the tone of what he was playing.

I'm not sure how many dates remain on their UK tour, but I would highly recommend going to see them. Jeffrey's songs and his singing won me over – I hadn't listened to much of his material before. Together these two created a highly memorable evening of great music.
