Exactly so JD - that was my point when I said P/P's are only different not inferior. However, there are also some great sounding but mechanically naff old guitars (a certain early S/B student model springs to mind) that might be best left for experts :geek: , so John needs the help and advice there too.
JGS - your misgivings are well founded; if you see one on eBay check it very carefully!!! Many of us buy there but it's not the ideal place for your first guitar - you need to go to a player (or player/dealer) and hear them demonstrate. And don't just buy the first you see.
You'll get there, all best Tony. :)

Thanx for the clarification John D -
i know exactly what you mean
quite a few newbies i get to know, often buy a clunker & come crying
they either, did'nt either take the time to find the proper ressources or help
or worse, they did'nt take the initial advice/offer on a proper psg
waste of money & time - live & learn huh ?
when it comes to starter models, many of us know the Carter farter is a clunker
whereas, imo the ZumSteel Stage One is an excellent Bang 4 $ £ € psg
The Justice Pro Lite & Mullen's Discovery are even better since the copedents can be changed
some of us know that Zum will soon offer the Stage 2 ( June/July 2012)
which will be a pro model too
buying a used Pro model requires more attention & help/advice in the newbies choice
